Lamar Suttles, HIS
Hearing Instrument Specialist
I began working in the hearing aid industry in 1980, which started as a summertime job during school. In 1982 I took a full time job in the Starkey Laboratory facility in Eden prairie, MN. I worked on the higher end of the hearing aid production products and helped introduce the low-profile hearing aid.
By 1985 I decided to move to the newly opening Starkey Texas facility in Austin, Texas. In 1990 I designed and manufactured what was called the in-ear monitor, mainly used for bands to hear their instruments on stage without floor speakers. I attended countless courses and classes regarding amplification, hearing and hearing aid fitting/programming.
Through the years I held many different positions, including training employees, providers, audiologists, and lab techs coming through the facility. I held the positions of head training associate, head material management, production team leader, production section leader and production manager. I have a total of well over 27 years experience in manufacturing and repairing hearing aids. I have been working with hearing aid providers at open houses and with factory representative in-office specialists for many years.
In 2007 I decided to get my Texas dispensing license. Since 2008, I have been working for NewSound in New Braunfels, Texas helping people hear and change their lives. This is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had.
